The Outdoor Writers Association of America has selected Jay Peak Resort in Vermont, for its 2020 annual conference which will feature three jam-packed days of sessions, demos, hospitalities and more.

OWAA is excited to head to Little Rock, Arkansas, for its 92nd annual conference. The Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism are excited to host OWAA on June 22-24. It’s a natural choice for OWAA to choose The Natural State.

The Outdoor Writers Association of America awarded nine Bodie McDowell scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students studying outdoor communications, totaling $24,500 for the 2018-19 school year.

The Outdoor Writers Association of America awarded 12 Norm Strung Youth Writing Award prizes totaling $1,400. The annual contest, sponsored by Majesty Outdoors, has categories for outdoor poetry and prose in two divisions: junior (grades 6-8) and senior (grades 9-12).

The Outdoor Writers Association of America honored six members with its most distinguished awards June 4, at the annual conference in Fort Wayne.

OWAA’s board of directors elected Pat Wray of Corvallis, Oregon, second vice president on June 1 at the summer meeting in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Members of the Outdoor Writers Association of America elected Ruth Hoyt of Texas, Ken Keffer of Iowa, and Shawn Perich of Minnesota, to serve on the organization’s board of directors. John Kruse of Washington also joined the board, replacing Matt Soberg who resigned from the Board on May 18.

The President’s Choice Awards honor the best of the best work from winners in OWAA’s 2018 Excellence in Craft Contests. Past President Phil Bloom picked his favorites among first-place winners in the 2018 EIC contests to recognize with the President’s Choice Award.
