    Philadelphia, Pa.
  2. Where do you call home now?
    Zieglerville, Pa.
  3. What’s your nickname?
    Terry, or Ter
  4. What’s your favorite outdoor activity?
    Casting metal or plugs to fall stripers in the surf.
  5. What is your profession/connection with outdoors communication?
    Press secretary, Pa. Department of Conservation and Natural Resources; newspaper columnist (saltwater fishing)
  6. Why did you choose to become an outdoor communicator?
    Love of writing led to journalism degree; my favorite daily newspaper stories centered on the outdoors, environment; current position melds all three …    
  7. What are you most proud of in your career thus far?
    2010 Recipient, Jade of Chiefs Award
  8. What three words would your friends use to describe you?
    “Got your back …” (or, “That Cheap _ _ _ _ _!”
  9. What is the best piece of advice you have received as an outdoor communicator?
    “Just as sure as there will be someone trying to help you up that ladder, there will be some trying just as hard to pull you down…”
  10. When you head for the Great Outdoors, what is the one thing you do not leave home without?
    A (… usually dirty) bandana.
  11. What would you do if you won the lottery?
    Half to son and daughter; rest for wife and me.
  12. Who do you most admire in your life and why?
    Every man and woman who has given their life on foreign soil to protect what so many of us take for granted here at home.
  13. What was the last movie you saw?
    “Fury.”
  14. What are your top three favorite books?
    “Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee,” Dee Brown “The Italian Americans: A History,” Maria Laurino, and “A Chukar Hunter’s Companion,” Pat Wray
  15. Can you juggle?
    No.
  16. What is your favorite dessert?
    Coffee ice cream, drizzled with chocolate sauce
  17. If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be?
    Wolverine (similar temperaments …)
  18. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
    Really..?! ;-( OK — hoping not to jinx myself, and with God’s help — showing my grandsons and granddaughters how to cast a surf pole, or break that first clay bird. 
  19. What is your favorite inspirational quote?

  20. What do you like best about OWAA?
    The conferences! Where else can you meet aging inspirations of the past and young promises of the future, all drawn together by a shared love of what we do — and why we do it?

As the oldest and largest organization of outdoor communicators ushers in our 90th birthday during 2017, OWAA celebrates our present—the gift of our talented current members and their ongoing excellence in outdoor communications.
