Elevate Your Career: Agenda announced for 2011 OWAA Annual Conference

MISSOULA, Mont. – Don’t miss the exciting line-up of sessions scheduled for the 2011 OWAA Annual Conference, July 9-11, at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort! From craft improvement, to business skills, to news panels, the conference agenda is designed to help you elevate your career and make more money as you network with other outdoor communicators and industry representatives.

Explore ways to expand your business through craft improvement and business sessions, the backbone of conference offerings. “Back to Basics: Computer Skills for your OWAA Membership” will provide solutions for many technical challenges faced by those seeking ways to adapt to changes in this digital era.  Be sure to make time for “How to Start Your Own TV Show” with Michelle Scheuermann and Max Rowe of The Sportsman Channel.  And catch Field and Stream’s Kirk Deeter presenting “Multimedia Maestros: Why it pays to be able to do it all.”

To get attendees active in the field and learning tangible skills, more hands-on workshops have been built into the program. Workshops include “Macro Photography,” “iMovie Video Editing” and “Better Action Photos.”  Participants in the “Shooting on the Go” and “Writing Better Product Reviews” sessions will use Demo Day on Sunday, July 10, as an opportunity to practice skills taught during those workshops. The next day,  follow-up sessions will provide feedback on work generated during Demo Day.

National and local news topics slated for discussion at the 2011 conference include “Lead vs. Copper: Separating fact from fiction,” “Going Local: How and why to cover the local food movement” and “On the Prowl: Western Wolves.” Check out panels discussing these hot topics and how they affect you as an outdoor communicator.

Outstanding work by outdoor professionals will be celebrated during the Honorary Awards and Excellence in Craft Banquet at the close of conference on Monday, July 11.

These sessions and plenty more round out three jam-packed days of events for the upcoming OWAA conference. To view the full agenda and see speaker biographies, visit http://www.owaa-oldsite.birchbarkmedia.com/2011conference. Online registration for the 84th OWAA annual conference is open now!
