2011 Conference Keynote Speaker: Hank Shaw

MISSOULA, Mont. – Outdoor Writers Association of America is proud to announce its 2011 conference keynote speaker will be Hank Shaw, blogger and author of “Hunt, Gather, Cook: Finding the Forgotten Feast,” which slated for publication later this year. His keynote speech is scheduled for Saturday, July 9 at 8:15 a.m. at Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort, Utah.

After nearly 20 years in the newspaper industry, last year Hank Shaw quit to pursue his passion for fishing, foraging, hunting and cooking. Shaw’s work has appeared in magazines such as Field & Stream, Food & Wine and Organic Gardening.

Shaw will follow his keynote speech with a conference session entitled “Going Local: How and Why to Cover the Local Food Movement,” accompanied by accompanied by Virginia “locavore” blogger and author Jackson Landers.. They will take a more in-depth look at the local, sustainable food movement and how it affects the outdoor communications community.
