OWAA searching for 2014 conference host location

MISSOULA, Mont. –Outdoor Writers Association of America has released the 2014 OWAA conference Request for Proposal. The organization is making an effort to move conferences more regularly around the country and are targeting the Southeast and Southwest regions for their 2014 conference, though they will accept bids from outside those regions.

OWAA will work directly with the host city Convention & Visitors Bureau during the bid process – please do not have individual resorts or properties contact OWAA. While OWAA’s conference has traditionally been held in June or July, they are open to proposals in shoulder seasons that offer the best rates for OWAA and its members.

OWAA’s conference will host 300-500 attendees from a wide array of outdoor communication professions as well as outdoor industry representatives. Conference is structured as a 3-day peak night pattern over the course of a weekend with pre- and post-conference trips arranged before and after conference. Space must be available to accommodate a “Shooting Day” program in which attendees become familiarized with the latest firearms and archery equipment from shooting manufacturers. Conference will also host a separate “Demo Day” to help showcase non-shooting hard-goods and allow attendees access to test developed products.

If you are interested in bringing the 2014 OWAA conference to your area, please contact your local CVB.
