MISSOULA, Mont. – Attention outdoors-loving youth!Do you enjoy hunting, fishing, hiking, camping or just being outdoors? Want to learn more about how to turn that passion into a career? If so, then put on your thinking caps and have your pens and pencils ready. On Feb. 26, 2011, the Outdoor Writers Association of America, in cooperation with the University of Minnesota Extension,will offer a half-day workshop to help young outdoor communicators develop their budding talents.
Safari Club International and the Minnesota 4H Foundation are proud to sponsor this youth-orientated event.The workshop will be open to students, ages 12-18, and will explore the topic of outdoor communications as a career path.The program will take place Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Heintz Center Commons, 1926 Collegeview Rd. SE, Rochester, Minn.
The faculty for the workshop is made up of entirely Minnesota residents who are also OWAA members. Workshop subjects will include: Outdoor Photography and Working with Magazines, taught by photographer and writer Steve Maanum; Writing for Newspapers, and Outdoor Books for Fun and Profit, taught by Larry Stone; Outdoor Radio Shows and Outdoor Opportunities in Television, taught by Minnesota radio and TV host Tim Lesmeister.
No experience necessary! We all started with just interest and desire. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers. Interested in attending this half-day workshop?
