As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve on a daily basis, I wanted to take a moment to update you on recent OWAA Board conversations as it relates to this year’s conference at Vermont’s Jay Peak Resort.
OWAA Board members and staff continue to monitor key sources such as the State Department and CDC websites for up to date information and recommendations around travel. Additionally, we have been in regular contact with our conference partners to discuss all available options, including the possible option of moving the conference to later in the year.
The Board of Directors met via conference call earlier this week to discuss new developments around travel, updated state guidelines, and the timelines and postponements of other major events. We are collecting additional information about travel and the impact that information may have on the prospects for our conference in Jay Peak, Vermont toward the end of June.
We plan to make a definite decision in early April after additional information is collected by OWAA leadership. Once a decision is made, we will update you immediately and provide key resources and next steps.
As you know, our annual conference is the highlight of the OWAA year. It is always our goal to provide a valuable conference experience for our members. Additionally, income from the conference is critically important to the health and longevity of our organization. So, we will explore every possible option available, and any decision to change our plans will not be taken lightly. However, the health and well-being of our membership is, and always will be, our number one priority.
For the latest conference updates, please be sure to check your email, our Facebook page and the OWAA website.
Stay safe and healthy out there!
Tim Mead
OWAA President
