Mark your calendar for OWAA’s 2019 Annual Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas

OWAA is excited to head to Little Rock, Arkansas, for its 92nd annual conference. The Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism are excited to host OWAA on June 22-24. It’s a natural choice for OWAA to choose The Natural State.

“Little Rock is at that heart of Arkansas’ vibrant outdoor scene. The Arkansas River runs through downtown Little Rock and the love of the outdoors is felt throughout the community even at the local breweries which have names like Flyway Brewing Company, Diamond Bear Brewery and Lost Forty Brewery,” said Randy Zellers, the local chair for the conference.

You’ll find fascinating stories right downtown, from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Little Rock Nature Center, to the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Library, to the Historic Arkansas Museum with its working blacksmith shop and Heifer International village which celebrates humanitarian efforts abroad.

The stories don’t stop at the city limits. Pick any direction and travel one hour, and you’re liable to end up in an entirely different environment. The Ozark Plateau, carved into mountains by rivers, offers breathtaking views to the northwest. The Ouachita mountains due west of the city are filled with opportunities for wildlife photography, mountain biking and hikes. Spend a day to the southwest and you’ll find the world’s only publicly accessible diamond mine and the blacksmithing shop credited with the creation of the Bowie knife. To the east it’s all about ducks and the Mississippi River Delta, with heritage as rich as the soil.

Conference sessions will take place at the Robinson Center overlooking the river and directly connected to the host hotel, The Doubletree by Hilton Little Rock. A welcome dinner will take place at a riverfront nature center downtown in cooperation with our local partners. Attendees will also be in walking distance of a wide variety of Little Rock parks, restaurants, river access points and shops.

The conference theme is “Conflict, Communication, Compromise, Cooperation” with sessions covering intriguing newsmaker discussions, diversity in the outdoors, hands-on craft improvement and more.

The 2019 OWAA conference offers a breadth of activities and experiences to appeal to any outdoor enthusiast, as well learning and networking opportunities to hone skills, find stories and foster valuable connections in the industry.
