OWAA board elects Mead second vice president and Sadler treasurer

OWAA’s board of directors elected Tim Mead of Charlotte, North Carolina, second vice president and Tom Sadler of Verona, Virginia, treasurer, June 23 at the summer meeting in Duluth, Minnesota.

Mead and Sadler officially took their new offices June 26, the same day Phil Bloom, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, began his term as OWAA’s new president. He replaces Brett Prettyman, of Salt Lake City.

Mead is a freelance journalist and OWAA member since 1987. As second vice president Mead will serve as the program chair for the 2018 conference to be held in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He  will also become president of the organization in 2019.

“OWAA is the premier organization of outdoor communication folks,” Mead said. “I am complimented my peers have chosen me for a position of leadership. Over the next three years, I pledge my skills to the enhancement of OWAA and its members.”

Sadler is the deputy director for the marine Fish Conservation Network and OWAA’s former executive director. He joined OWAA in 2001. Sadler replaces Ty Stockton in the treasurer position, whose three-year term expired this year.

“During my tenure as executive director I saw OWAA become even more important to outdoor communicators. I am honored that the board has given my the opportunity to continue to play a leadership role as treasurer,” he said. “As someone who knows directly how important our finances are, I look forward to working with my colleagues, Executive Director Brandon Shuler and his team to maintain OWAA’ s strong financial position.”
