Knoxville, Tennessee, June 26-28, 2015. Will you be there?
When I ask members what the single best thing about OWAA is they usually answer “conference.” When I ask them why, most say “the networking.”
Conference is really a signature OWAA benefit isn’t it? It offers so much, in a short time, at a fun location. And if you plan it right you can make some money by going.
It offers the chance to network for sure, but also there are great educational opportunities from your colleagues and outside speakers. You have a chance to hear from, and visit with industry and policy leaders who help bring new focus and insights to current events and emerging issues.
Conference, in many ways, defines OWAA and that is why I am excited about the Knoxville conference. OWAA is evolving as we diversify our membership and supporters and change how we do business. Our conference is also evolving to reflect the different interests of our growing membership.
The McAllen conference, while not the best attended conference, is being rated as one of the most content rich conferences in recent memory. We also jazzed things up a bit with more of a celebration for our EIC awards. We returned to a more traditional format for our awards dinner.
For 2015 we will continue to change the conference format. Brett Prettyman, conference chair, has brought his committee together and is already hard at work with Jessica planning for KX-15.
We are looking at returning to the “break out day” format by running demo day and shooting day together at one venue. We are looking at ways for you to enjoy time on the water with our supporting groups so you can get wet or wet a line or take in the waterfront scene in Knoxville. We are looking at reducing the number of sessions that run simultaneously so you don’t miss out on sessions you really want to go.
We have more information on our conference website so take a look and plan to join us.
Conference is always a good time. I hope to see you there!
