MISSOULA, Mont.– Outdoor Writers Association of America announces the location for their 2013 Conference: Lake Placid, N.Y., home of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games. The conference will be Sept.14-16, 2013.
In cooperation with Lake Placid CVB, many local partners have already stepped forward to participate in the conference, including the Lake Placid Fish and Game Club, who will help facilitate Shooting Day activities, and the Adirondack Mountain Club who will host Demo Day activities at their Heart Lake facility.
Attendees can explore one of the most unique and exciting natural history museums in the region during a reception at the WILD Center in Tupper Lake, N.Y. The New York State Olympic Regional Developmental Authority will help coordinate attendees’ access to some of the historical sites in Lake Placid, including the legendary hockey arena where the U.S team upset the heavily-favored Soviet Union during the 1980 Olympic gold medal match. Also, local company Orvis/Jones Outfitters has already offered several FAM trip opportunities for attendees.
The Northwoods Inn will be the host hotel for conference goers, along with the Best Western Adirondack Inn, Art Devlin’s Motor Inn, the Mirror Lake Inn and other central Lake Placid inns and hotels. All hotels are located within a short walk of the Conference Center at Lake Placid where conference sessions will be held. In addition, the town trolley system will be available to conference attendees, and routes will run to and from all conference properties.
This is one conference location that will not fail to excite and inspire all attendees with its phenomenal list of historical and adventurous sites and activities. We are looking to seeing all of our OWAA members there!
