MISSOULA, Mont. – Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA) is holding a membership drive open to current Active, Life and Associate members. Current members who sponsor new members will earn raffle tickets for prizes donated by contest sponsors.
Participants will be eligible to win prizes from contest sponsors Alpen Optics, L.L. Bean, Altus/ProEars, Pure Fishing, Smith & Wesson, Coleman and OWAA.
The membership drive began Oct. 1, 2010 and will run through Feb. 1, 2011. The drive is an effort to increase members’ involvement in the OWAA recruitment process and help expand OWAA’s membership base.
Prizes include an Alpen spotting scope, Abu Garcia rod and reel combos and a Pro Ears GOLD Series Electronic Hearing Protection/Amplification System among others.
The participant who sponsors the most new members will automatically receive free conference registration and four nights lodging at the 2011 OWAA Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. Courtesy of OWAA, this package is valued at $635.
New member applications must be received by OWAA HQs no later than Feb. 1, 2011 and current members must be written as a sponsor on individual member application at time of receipt, to be eligible for raffle entries.
Raffle entries will be awarded on the following scale:
- Sponsor 1 member: 2 tickets
- Sponsor 2 members: 5 tickets
- Sponsor 3 members: 9 tickets
- Sponsor 4 members: 15 tickets
- Sponsor 5+ members: 10 more raffle tickets for each additional new member sponsored. (For example, sponsoring five members will get you 25 tickets. Sponsor six members, earn 35 tickets.)
Raffle tickets will be drawn on Feb. 4, 2011 and winners’ names will be published in March edition of Outdoors Unlimited. To see photos of the raffle prizes and the latest contest sponsors, check the OWAA website at the end of October.
